WorldNav 3100 from TeleType
Jul 10, 2006 gps navigation
Teletype just announced a new portable navigation system over the weekend that also functions as a MP3 and video player. Similar to today’s most other navigation systems WorldNav 3100 also provides turn-by-turn voice guidance. But with one extra twist. It’ll actually pronounce the street names for you. Instead of saying “turn left in 100 ft” it will say “turn left onto Main Street”. That’s pretty cool.
Here are some of the other features:
- Touch Screen
- MP3 & Video Player
- Picture Viewer
- Preloaded Maps U.S. 50 states and Puerto Rico
- Most extensive POI database in the industry
- 12+ million POIs Preloaded
- Find businesses by Phone Number or Address
- Rechargeable Li-On Battery
The device features a SD slot for programs, maps, and other media, and comes with built-in half-a-watt speakers. The Microsoft Windows CE.NET 4.2 operating system runs on a Samsung S3C2440 300 MHZ processor which talks to a 20 Channel SiRF III GPS chipset. You can buy it for $459 from TeleType’s website.
