web-based mapping and searching from Fresh Logic

Check out Fresh Logic Studios for web-based ‘google-earth-like’ software that is free for all. You can use their web-based atlas service to do mapping and searching and even save your locations if you choose to register. Their service doesn’t end with the atlas though. Just today they announced Atlas Mobile:

Today we publicly released a new product for your Windows Mobile device called Atlas Mobile, a collection of features and services from our popular web-based map product, Atlas. Atlas Mobile will detect your paired GPS device and periodically transmit your location to Atlas, allowing you to see your device’s position in real-time, just like our GPS demo.

If you’re lost, Atlas Mobile can help you find your way… giving you directions to your destination step by step. Plus, you get the same local search capability found in Atlas, so now you can find a nice restaurant or parking and then get directions to it, all on your mobile device.

So if you’ve spent your hard earned money on a nice Windows Mobile 5 device and don’t feel like paying more for an additional personal navigation device, Atlas Mobile is a pretty nice alternative. I’ve been using a lot while we’ve been developing it and have fallen in love. I personally can’t wait to get a cradle for my car so its even easier to use.
