We’ve had this list for iPhone GPS navigation apps and we just updated it with the latest information. Let us know if you think we need to add more items to the list. The list only attempts to cover apps that can provide turn by turn directions for the iPhone.

Xroad – the same guys who make the iPhone GPS app for East and West U.S. separately are apparently trying to take over with their own hardware, something called XRoad MI4300.
Nothing too interesting here – your standard 4.3″ screen navigation system. But it would be interesting to see if the user interface would be anything similar to what they have on the iPhone.

It’s only been a few weeks since the new iPhone 3.0 operating system has been released and we already have a handful of GPS navigation system applications available/ or soon to be released. Let’s recap what we have so far:
TeleNav
Also known as AT&T Navigator this app is developed by TeleNav. Free to install, $10/month. More… (iTunes)
Navigon
All versions of Navigon are out. Works with no internet connection (maps are local). Recent update includes traffic for USA and Canada. It supports landscape mode. No monthly fee. U.S. version sells for $90. Other versions include Brazil, Turkey, Europe, Russia, Australia, and South Africa. Maybe a car kit from is expected. (iTunes)
TomTom
TomTom is the biggest name in Europe when it comes to sat nav. They demoed their app with the release of iPhone 3GS but still no news from them.

Gokivo
Gokivo is from Networks In Motion. They have a lot of experience in this just like the rest of the names up here. $1 to install, $10/month for subscription. Here’s a review that says it doesn’t work so well.
UPDATE: Number have changed a bit. Your first month is just $5. After that it is $40/year and $15 extra for traffic service. (iTunes)
Sygic
Sygic is currently available for South East Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand) for $80 and Australia + New Zealand for $65. No monthly fee.
UPDATE: Now out for more place. US version is $40. Other regions include Colombia, Brazil, Gulf, Russia, Europe, UK & Ireland, and America which includes US, Canada, and Mexico. (iTunes)
Navmii
Navmii says their GPS navigation software will be coming to the App Store soon.

iGO My Way
iGO My Way just released their navigation app too. $80 in the U.S., 90 € for whole Europe, and 70 € for only Western Europe. How is it different from the rest? Because it does 3D terrain maps. (iTunes)
CoPilot Live
This one is from ALK Technologies. Does landscape mode as well as portrait. Includes realistic intersection view and lane assistance. UK version is £ 26, and whole Europe is £ 60. U.S. version is not out just yet.

XRoad
Xroad also have a new version of their GPS navigation app for iPhone. It is called G-Map and costs $35. Funny thing with G-Map is that eastern and western U.S. is sold separately. So the whole U.S. of A. would be $70. Canada is cheap. Only $20.
UPDATE: They’ve divided the US into even smaller regions. You can just buy CA, or even TX. Other regions they support are Russia, France, Alps, UK-Ireland, Germany. (iTunes)
MotionX-GPS Drive
What’s so special about MotionX-GPS Drive from Fullpower? How about the price? It is only $3. If you’ve used this let us know how it was. We’re curious. (iTunes)
NDrive
NDrive is kind of new. Available in 32 languages/versions. Starts at $38.

Mapquest
Mapquest has an iPhone app they’re trying to get out there. It costs $4/month, $10/quarter, $30/year. (iTunes)
Magellan
Magellan RoadMate App for iPhone just came out and costs $80 for US and Canada. Maps are stored on your phone, does landscape mode, and text-to-speech (iTunes). Other versions soon to come will be Eastern and Western US, and then Europe.

Well, theiphoneblog had a chance to get a few screenshots at MWC and even play with it for a bit:
I can say that Sygic works and seems snappy enough. It took the software shown about 30 seconds to load up and initialize, however, which didn’t fill me with glee.
We have to wait and see how Apple will change (if at all) their SDK which says “no real time route guidance” to allow for third parties such as this (or CoPilot, or xGPS, or XRoad, or TeleNav which still hasn’t made anything official).

The XRoad G-Map we talked about has finally hit the App store so now iPhone 3G users can have a GPS navigation software. Sold for $20 at the App Store, this application requires no internet connection to download maps, directions, etc… (and to comply with Apple they’re really not providing turn by turn directions)
All the maps for XRoad G-Map are stored locally so you’re going to have to say good bye to more than 900MB on your device for either west coast or the east coast to use this. Even then you may be a little frustrated to hear that coverage is flimsy. And then there’s also the bad reviews. Currently it has 2 stars. So you be the judge.
Screenshots look pretty cool though.

Is this really a GPS navigation application for the iPhone? It is called G-Map and according to specs and features which we’ll share below it sure is but we thought the iPhone SDK did not allow for GPS navigation applications? Any ideas?
Anyways, this applications requires 700MB of space on your iPhone or iPod Touch and it only covers Buffalo, NY/ Cincinnati, OH/ Cleveland, OH/ Columbus, OH/ Nashville, TN/ Pittsburgh, PA/ Rochester, NY/ Boston, MA/ Hartford, CT/ Middlesex, NJ/ Nassau-Suffolk, NY/ New York, NY/ Providence, RI/ Wilmington, DE.
The application is stand-alone so it needs no internet connection or 3G connection. It provides real 3D view of major intersections and highway junctions, provides detailed information on restaurants, hotels with ‘Premium POI’, allows you to edit POI’s, search by phone number and latitude/longitude, and dieal phone number from POI’s.
There’s no information about ‘turn-by-turn directions’ though. It only says you can ‘get directions’. See it for yourself at XRoad’s website. XRoad has been in GPS navigation for a while now.

XRoad in Korea is getting ready to release their 3rd version of the highly successful GPS navigation system series V7.
Of course XRoad V7 has more than just GPS navigation to offer. Its features include media player, 800×480 resolution on a 7″ screen, FM radio, DMB tuner, picture-in-picture capability, and much more.

We have another, really sharp looking GPS navigation system + multimedia player device from Korea called XRoad MO1000. XRoad MO1000 is powered by a RMI Alchemy Au1250 processor which runs at an impressive 600MHz. Thus XRoad MO1000 can easily render 3D maps complete with building and other structures.
XROAD MO1000 runs on WinCE 5.0 OS and has the Korean standard 7″ TFT-LCD touch screen. It is HDD based and comes with 30GB of storage space, and has a DMB receiver to watch digitally broadcast channels.

After XRoad V4050 XRoad now has the higher-end V4150 in the pipeline. We’re not sure what the exact differences are but the body seems to be slightly thinner and more streamlined.
V4150 runs on a 400Mhz with 64MB RAM and 64MB ROM. It has a wide, 350cd bright, 4.3″ touch screen with 480 x 272 pixel resolution and a SD card slot for memory expansion. It doesn’t have an integrated TMC receiver but it supports external antenna thanks to its connection port. It also has Bluetooth version 2.0 with EDR. There’s no mention of the on-board GPS receiver but they say it has -80 dBm sensitivity. The 2100mAh Li-Polymer seems to be sufficient for a device with a 4.3″ screen and XRoad also threw in integrated receivers and a microphone for the hands free calling.

XRoad RM-A4000 which we talked about here at Navigadget before made another appearance in Korea just the other day under the Tibo name. Like we mentioned before this GPS navigation device for bikes is a nice alternative to TomTom Rider and Garmin Zumo who are pretty much in control of the whole market right now.
XRoad RM-A4000 features a nice joystick to make it easy to control with your gloves and a big bluetooth button to enable you to pair with your helmet or other bluetooth device.
