Super Trackstick GPS tracking

trackstick-gps-01.jpg
Trackstick just recently made a available a new GPS tracking device called “Super Trackstick“.

The new model runs on two AAA batteries, and thanks to its vibration detector and low power GPS technology it will last for about a month with average use. Super Trackstick comes with 4MB of internal memory that can keep a log of months worth of travel history. Of course all this slightly depends on record time which can be an interval anywhere from every 5 seconds to every 15 minutes.

Super Trackstick can simply plug into your computer’s USB port to transfer track logs which can visualized on Google Earth since the data automatically is stored in this format. The device has weatherproof case and removable magnetic mount allow for covert installation for vehicles.

TrackStick Pro now available

trackstick-pro-005.jpg
TrackStick Pro is small data logger that records date, time, location, speed, direction, altitude, signal strength, and temperature onto its 4MB flash memory which could save information for months at a time. Of course the time it takes to fill the 4MB memory also depends on how often you want to record data.

User selectable features allow the record time to be changed from a recording interval of every 5 seconds or from 1 minute up to every 60 minutes. A “first in, first out” memory map will continuously record while erasing the oldest location histories first.

You can download the recorded data onto your own computer using the included USB cable and software. Mapping and reporting software is also included in the package which can integrate directly into Google Earth for worldwide use.

Just to prevent any confusion, TrackStick Pro does not provide real time tracking – that is you can not know where your teenage driver is unless he/she comes back home and you download the data. It is designed for companies and individuals looking for a way to record and validate vehicle, shipping or truck routes.

TrackStick Pro measures 2.5″ X 2″ X 0.75″ and can be permanently mounted on a vehicle in plain sight, covertly installed or removed from the cradle and placed on the dashboard.

We have no word on pricing just yet.

    TrackStick GPS Data Logger

TrackStick GPS Data LoggerWe had a post about TrackStick a while ago, again about a logger, but the pic looked different. So maybe this one IS different. If you are planning to spy on someone using this try to come up with a reason why the ‘usb drive’ needs to have AAA batteries inside. For example: “it keeps the data fresh!”

The unit actually houses a GPS receiver and will autonomously keep track of its location including time, date, speed, direction and altitude and store this data in its memory. The recorded information can then be downloaded to your computer VIA the USB connection and be integrated with Mapquest, Google Earth, Google Maps or Virtual Earth to give you a visual plot of where the TrackStick has travelled. Most of the unit’s size can probably be attributed to the fact it runs on 2 AAA batteries which will power it for about 5 to 7 days of ‘typical operation’ which amounts to about 4,000 records.

Unfortunately the life of a spy does not come cheap. The Trackstick is available from ThinkGeek for $249.99 which will probably make you think twice about who to secretly plant this on.
