TomTom saves money on gas, but won’t pump it for you…

TomTom GPS has unveiled an interesting new feature for some of its models that will direct you to the gas station with the least expensive prices. GPS systems have always been able to direct you to the closest gas station, but TomTom takes that to the next level by directing you to the cheapest gas station in the area.

Set up is fairly straightforward and you don’t need to be particularly tech savvy in order to do it. First make sure you have a TomTom that is compatible with the service. As of right now the models that are compatible are, the GO-930, GO 920T, GO-920, GO-730, GO-720, 330XLS, 330, 130s, and the 130. I’m sure other models will be added soon so check back often if yours is not listed.

The TomTom HOME software can be downloaded from their web site . You can then connect your TomTom to your home pc or mac and the synch process will begin automatically. Simple click on TomTom go and then device will download the latest fuel prices. You can also search by the grade of fuel you use.

The subscription based application is priced at a reasonable $14.95 per year. The way gas prices have been climbing in recent months this may be the best $14.95 you’ve spent all year.
