i-station U7

Digitalcube of Korea just announced a new GPS navigation system called i-station U7, which apparently tries to assist you in hypermiling while showing you the shortest route to your destination.

i-station U7 can sense the incline of the road you’re driving on and also can help you be more fuel efficient by commenting on your driving style – which could get really annoying really fast :) As far as hardware there’s a 7″ screen with 800×480 resolution, receiver for digital TV channels, and 4GB onboard flash memory. Expected to be available in Korea next month for about 398,000KRW ($382)… Read More …

i-STATION N7TU: the art of navigation

i-station-n7tu-02.jpg
i-Station has done it again. Their new model the i-STATION N7tu is a GPS navigation system that also brings DMB channels to your vehicle’s cockpit. It only comes with a 1000mAh battery, meaning you’re going to have to have this device plugged in the whole time – for it has a bright 7″ TFT LCD touch screen and a 1.8″ HDD that comes in either 30GB or 60GB capacity – both of which consume a lot of power.

It runs Win CE 5.0 in the background, comes with a fancy navigation software (Mappy United) that can display the Korean skyline in the background with realistic 3D buildings, and a media player that can play multiple audio, video formats, and also has PiP capability.

Other features include stereo speakers, SiRF Star III GPS receiver (but they also throw in an external antenna), SD card support as well as a USB host.

We have no info on pricing – and you probably don’t care since we all know this will never make it to U.S… via pmpinside.com

i-station NetForce Navi

i-station-netforce-455.jpg
We’ve covered the T43 from i-Station before. They have a new model out called the NetForce Navi which uses the same GPS cradle as T43 but considerably shorter. The whole back side of the device is attaches to a 3000mAh battery pack and it comes with all the cables you may need to attach to another video source, USB drive, headset, etc… Also included in the box is the GPS cradle, windshield mounting bracket, car charger, T-DMB antenna and more.

The NetForce Navi can also be used as a portable audio player and it comes with a remote that can attach to your clothing and gives you the ability to control volume, FF, RWD, pause, and so on.

i-station-netforce-456.jpgHere are some specs we could pull out from the all the Korean text:

  • 4.3 WVGA (800 x 480) TFT LCD screen
  • WinCE.NET 5.0 operating system
  • Rousen Navi navigation software
  • 3000mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery
  • 148 x 78 x 21.8 mm / 340g
  • T-DMB receiver as H.264
  • Supported file formats: MPEG 1/2, MPEG4, MP3, WMA, AC3, OGG, WAV, MSADPCM, JPEG, BMP, PNG, RAW

You should check out the product page for a longer set of features, however keep in mind that the site is in Korean – but the icons are pretty self explanatory.

Wouldn’t this be the ultimate Nuvi 660 killer if it were to come out in North America?

i-station T43 Navi demo video

This is a demo video of the new T43 Navi from i-station. The video is in Korean so most likely you won’t understand a word, but it is still nice to see it in action. The video will demonstrate dual view mode and how to zoom in and out of the map just by touching the screen and many other things.

T43 Navi DMB PMP from i-station

t43-navi-951.jpg
We had already talked about the basic T43 earlier this month. Now i-station has announced T43 Navi which builds upon the basic model. Due to lack of Korean staff members we’re not exactly sure how much different this one is from the basic model. So we’d highly appreciate if a native Korean speaker could translate this for us :)

T43 DMB PMP features GPS cradle

t43-dmb-gps-003.jpgAnother day, another Korean-bound product that we’ll never see on our side of the pond, especially given that it has that big obvious antenna sticking out the side. The T43 series, or “i-Station”, is the latest personal media player to hit the Korean market and as you can probably tell, it does the DMB dance with the best of them.

They proudly exclaim that the T43 rocks a fresh and intuitive (Flash-based?) user interface, which is always a good thing. It looks very similar to the V43 model that they announced just a year ago, but now have tossed in the DMB. In addition to the usual music and movie playing stuff (including DAB) on its 4.3-inch widecreen LCD, the i-Station also packs in a few PDA functions like a scheduler, calculator, and notepad. Its powered by the AMD Alchemy au1500 500mhz

It even seems to pack GPS into the mix. When placed in the GPS cradle, navigation can begin, or you can play back your audio or videos through the cradles dual speakers. They also have a home dock for you to record your shows and take them with you on the go.

Dreams of T-DMB have been rampant in North America, so just keep dreaming. More pics at i-Station’s website.
