heads-up-display-gps
The HG-100 heads up display is finding its way into western hemisphere under different names with a few changes. AutoSport is offering this GPS enabled heads up display as HG400 for $150. HG400 gives you compass heading and speed readings while you drive by projecting the information onto your windshield so you can keep your eyes on the road ahead. You can see your speed in MPH or KPH, and even set a speed alert to warn you when you’re going too fast. It also has bluetooth antenna so you can hook it up to your PC or a PDA to get navigation functionality on those devices.

HG-100 goes through FCC – looks beat up

hg-100-gps-01.jpgThe HG-100 GPS based heads up display we mentioned here at Navigadget makes it through FCC – but during photoshoot it doesn’t look anything like the computer generated pics. But looks aren’t everything – so there’s still hope.

hg-100-gps-02.jpgHG-100 is a device that combines Heads-Up Display (HUD), GPS, and Bluetooth. With HUD, car heading and speed are being projected onto the windshield so drivers can keep their eyes on the road. HG-100 has also the Over-Speed Alert function to remind drivers with when they’re stepping on the gas pedal a bit too hard. The GPS receiver is from MediaTek Inc. and it provides the 32 channel all-in-view satellite tracking, 5Hz update rate function to show the most detailed position fix. HG-100 also has Bluetooth interface function, so you can pair it up with your PDA, Smart Phone and laptop computer to enable these devices with GPS navigation feature (must bring your own navigation software).

HG-100 HUD GPS speed meter live pics

Engadget was able to get some live shots of the new heads up display (HUD) from GlobalTop called HG-100. We can definitely say that computer generated pics of the device looked a lot nicer. They also mention the display wasn’t very clear on an untinted window. But this is a new technology in consumer electronics market. Congrats to GlobalTop for the effort. It will be available in Europe this year and is expected to cost about 75€.
