ZorroGPS just launched their latest version. Following the problems encountered on the first version, the software underwent many corrections and is now at version 3.0 which is available for download. The new version comes with the most recent Navteq maps to date: March 2009.

According to the editor ZorroGPS is very fast: It takes 5 seconds to calculate a route for 2000 kilometers and 1 second for route recalculation. This GPS navigation software also can overlay satellite maps.

The prices of ZorroGPS are very attractive and vary according to the maps you’re getting:

  • With one of the 22 regions of France: 17 €
  • With France: 19 €
  • With Europe: 29 €
  • With the United States: 27 €

These prices are great but you have to keep in mind that other features such as speed limits, realistic road signs, lane information is optional and cost extra.

Eten Glofiish DX900 dual SIM and GPS

eten_glofiish_dx900
The touchscreen smartphone Eten Glofiish DX900 with dual SIM support and integrated GPS is now available in France.

This 3G+ smartphone, has a touchscreen, a VGA camera, integrated GPS, and somehow still manages to use dual SIM cards, therefore giving you the ability to own two phone lines at once.

After using the device first hand you realize the DX900 is a bit thick, but having the power to manage two SIM cards somehow make up for that disadvantage. DX900 gives you the ability to completely turn off one SIM card, assign different ring tones to each one, choose a SIM to use when sending SMS, and the ability to receive a call on the SIM card when already in conversation on one SIM card.

The only limitation is that only one of two SIM can be used for broadband internet access.

It comes with 2 years guarantee and is marketed by the official distributor Partelec with Garmin Mobile XT 4 navigation software with Benelux and France maps for 519 €.

For the record, Garmin Mobile XT offers Premium traffic information free of charge (excluding what you pay for internet access) and can import its POIs including database of radar locations. Users can upgrade for free to version 5 and have the latest features like local Google search.
