globalSat releases waterproof GPS watch

We had a chance to check out GlobalSat GH-625 GPS enabled wristwatch today and since we like you we’ll share the results. Naturally this is next model up from the GlobalSat GH-615 which we had already mentioned a while ago.

Overall this is a nice, sturdy, product. The GPS function works as advertised. It has a track back feature that can re-trace your route which is nice. The watch is also waterproof so it can be worn in adverse conditions.

GH-615M GPS watch with heart rate monitor now available

gh615m-gps-heart-rate-01.jpgGH-615M we’ve mentioned before a couple of times is now available for sale in the U.S. for $300. Manufactured by USGlobalSat, the GH-615M is designed for athletes who want to get every single detail about their intense workout.

The device has enough memory to store up to 60,000 waypoints and it records and stores traveled routes using your pre-set time intervals and on its oversized LCD displaying GPS coordinates, speed, altitude, lap recording, and your heart rate. GH615M is IPX7 water resistant, so it is OK to use even in the wettest outdoor conditions. This GPS watch also allows PC connection via the USB port and can double as a GPS receiver for laptops or UMPC’s. Recorded data when downloaded to a PC can be saved as .CSV, .TXT and .KML files.

GlobalSat GH-615 is designed as a personal assistant. It is conceived for professional athletes, lap runners, hikers, parachutists and professionals. It uses the GPS satellites to calculate your speed, distance covered, etc to enable you to concentrate on your race.

GlobalSat GH-615 uses a SiRF star III chip and is IPX7 water resistant. With GH-615 you can store up to 100 points in memory and have it help you return to previous points using a simple graph of navigation. Also thanks to the software provided with the device, it will be possible for you to extract your recorded courses, to keep them on your PC, and then to see the result on Google Earth.

The display measures 24.9 x 39.88 mm and has 80 x 120 pixel resolution. To protect your investment from rainy days GH-615 is built with IPX7 waterproof standard. To keep you from getting lost, the watch can hold up to 60,000 waypoints in its memory.

The GH-615 can also double as a GPS receiver when connected to a laptop via a USB interface cable. Advanced models (GH-615M) provide heart rate monitoring and accurate electronic compass and barometric functions (GH-615P).
