While we were at FCC we thought we’d also look around for other GPS embedded devices. And luckily we came across this MiTAC’s (aka Getac) new device called PS535F. Looking at some internal pics we quickly pickup that it will contain a GPS, WLAN, and a Bluetooth antenna.

It may look quite ugly but keep in mind this is a rugged Windows Mobile handset, possibly designed for technicians out in the field.

We also came across the user manual (pdf) which reveal that this handheld device will contain RF antenna, Wi-Fi, touch screen, a stylus, external speaker, SD/MMC slot, standard headphone jack, and a mini USB connector.

We’re not sure what kind of GPS software will be available for the device but we know at least it will come with TacLink which will provide a user interface while getting a position fix from satellites.

new Getac V100 with bright display can embed GPS

Getac likes to embed GPS chips in many of their products and their new V100 rugged notebook is one of those. Just announced; the V100 series boasts a super bright 1200 NITS display which they claim – combined with other features – make this notebook/tablet PC an important part of “mission critical” operations including search and rescue teams, military personnel, law enforcement officers, utility workers and others to avoid errors, diminished productivity, physical danger, and eyestrain.

In addition to its bright, easy-to-read screen display, the GETAC V100 is fully compliant with MIL-STD 810F and IP54 standards for ruggedness including the ability to withstand heavy rain, airborne dust and debris. For further protection, the hybrid notebook/tablet PC has a removable hard drive that is shielded by a special mechanism to prevent damage during operation; anti vibration compounds, which serve as a shock absorber during transport; and an anti-shock housing to further protect it if bumped or dropped.

All this ruggedness weighs only 4.8 pounds, and it even features an ultra-quiet fan-less design. The embedded GPS receiver is not standard with Getac’s V100 but it is optional just like the 3G connectivity. Some other standard and optional features include 250GB shock-mounted removable hard drive, Intel Core 2 Duo 1.2GHz processor, up to 2 GB of DRAM, integrated Bluetooth, and a rotatable waterproof camera …

new Toshiba Qosmio F55 features integrated GPS

Toshiba recently announced Qosmio F55 laptop series, usually referred to as “gaming laptop” thanks to its Intel Core 2 Duo CPU and NVIDIA GPUs.
