FineDrive iQ500 GPS navigation system

finedrive-iq500
FineDrive iQ500 GPS navigation system is the latest from Korean FineDrive. As far as portable GPS navigation systems go, the iQ500 is considerably larger in size. With dimensions of 186 x 120 x 24 and a 7″ touch screen it sure will require a lot of space on your dashboard. Just make sure it doesn’t block your view and you’ll be just fine.

All that screen space with 800×480 resolution requires a relatively powerful processor to draw maps and render Korean buildings in 3D so that’s why a a 600Mhz ARM 11 processor was necessary for iQ500. Of course all this power is not just for GPS navigation; you can also use FineDrive 500 as a portable media player. It initially comes with either 4GB or 8GB of memory but it supports SDHC cards up to 32GB. You can play all sort of formats including MP4, ASF, AVI, MPEG and WMV video and MP3, AAC, AMR, QCP, WAV, FLAC, MID, OGG and WMA. And don’t forget the DMB TV tuner.

There’s also the new feature that works hand in hand with GPS navigation software to show you the most environmentally friendly route to your destination.

FineDrive CUVi

fine-drive-cuvi.jpg
Korean brand FineDrive just revealed their mini DMB and GPS navigation device CUVi.

CUVi is probably one of the smallest gadgets to feature both DMB receiver and GPS navigation. While most other Korean brands like to fill the market with 7″ systems, CUVi on the other only has a 3.5″ screen.

This device, weighing only 152 grams, is very light weight and with the optional larger battery you can extend the 2 hour life making the CUVi even more portable. Like most other GPS navigation systems out there CUVi also supports various multimedia files in addition to DMB.

The suggested price for the base model is 300,000 KRW ($305)… Read More …

FineDrive M760 now with A-GPS?

finedrive-m760.jpg
We’ve heard of the FineDrive M760 before – a very sleek GPS sat nav system with T-DMB receiver, media player, and more. Now we get the news from aving that FineDrive M760 will also have A-GPS to improve the time to get an initial satellite fix. A-GPS so far has only been integrated on mobile phones to improve their battery life and enable them to get a satellite fix indoors. M760 seems to be the first to put A-GPS support on a standalone GPS navigation system. Nice!

A nice feature with this navigation system is that you’ll have a free SD slot since it comes with a 128MB built-in memory for maps and storage. Various display options include North-up/Heading-up, Day/Night View and 2D/3D. No multimedia player here. It should cost about $700. We’ll let you know when it is for sale.

FineDrive M300 GPS navigation and media player

m300-finedrive-944.jpgMakers of the infamous FineDrive 400 (see review) are back in the game with the FineDrive M300. This pocket sized device is a PMP with GPS navigation, and comes with DMB receiver. For storage it uses a 3GB flash disk which should allow you some space for your MP3 and image files. FineDrive M300 also comes with a movie player but we have no info what file formats it supports.

Included in the package is a stylus. I guesss we should first mention that it has a 3.5″ touch screen.

FineDrive GPS navigation has no clue where you are!

finedrive-001.gifAccording to CNet at least. CNet just announced the worst technologies in second quarter of 2006 and FineDrive 400 GPS navigation system from FineDigital came in eigth in that list. CNet had a review of them back in June and they got a 3.7 out of 10.

Has anyone ever asked you for directions, and after you give them, you realize you may have messed up a step or two? And then you realize it would have been better just telling them, “I don’t know how to get there,” instead of giving bad directions, because now those people are really, really lost? Enter the FineDigital FineDrive GPS unit. Sometimes, it has no idea where you are. Other times, it gives you inaccurate directions. And although it has a built-in MP3 player, it can’t play tunes and give directions at the same time. But at least it’s a bargain at $700.
