travel honey? really?

travel_honey
If it wasn’t for the lame “travel honey” name this product would almost be perfect. It is 4 in 1 device that acts as a 1) GPS receiver for your laptop, 2) location finder to track back to a set point, 3) photo tagger with software, and 4) data logger for GPS tracking.

It is currently out of stock at this online wholesale site that is willing to sell retail for only $54.

The above images demonstrates how “travel honey” directs you back to your car. The only thing you have to do to record your car’s position is to press a button for two seconds so it can record its GPS coordinates when you’re ready to head back home… Read More …

ETen’s new GPS embedded PDA phone Glofiish X650 made an appearance on FCC’s website signaling a not-so-distant release here in the U.S.

X650’s designs follows that of the X600 which we talked about before but with a slightly different color. The set of features are pretty much the same but X650 now adds an FM transmitter.

According to engadgetmobile X650 may have a VGA screen but still lack 3G connectivity.

We have no info on pricing or availability just yet.

ETEN glofiish M700+ coming to U.S.

glofiish-m700-543.jpg
ETEN has just passed its FCC requirements for glofiish M700+, bringing it one step closer to coming out in U.S. with a service provider (already out in Europe: M700+ for £499, and M700 for £295). We have yet no solid info how the “+” will add new functionality but if they follow the same pattern as in 600 series, it should have more memory, a better digital camera, and new software.

E-TEN glofiish M700

glofiish-M700-02.jpg
Last week we published some low quality pic of a device that was supposedly the new M700 from E-TEN. Well it turned out to be true. The engineers at E-Ten are so hardworking that they released two new pocket-PC’s in less than 2 weeks and added the M700 to be the next device from Glofiish series after X500.

There’s no word on pricing but it will be available as soon as this month. The M700 stands out from the rest of the Pocket-PC’s with its slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. Unlike the X500 it lacks 3G support, but the rest of the specs seem to be the same:

  • Windows Mobile 5.0 w/ Direct Push Technology
  • quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity
  • Bluetooth
  • 802.11b/g Wi-Fi
  • GPS (SiRF Star III) with TMC
  • FM radio

Software

  • Microsoft Mobile Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • M-Desk: an easy to use Program launcher
  • Several phone and messaging tools
  • Camera and image editing software
  • Backup utility

E-TEN M700 to feature GPS and Wi-Fi

eten-M700-053.jpg
There’s been some rumors around that Taiwanese E-Ten will soon launch a device from the M series, M700 to be exact. The horizontal slider Pocket PC phone will carry a QWERTY keyboard and if the rumors are true, it is supposed to come with an embedded GPS chip as well as Wi-Fi connectivity. The M700 is expected to come with 256MB of memory and have bluetooth connectivity too. But it’s all rumors – not – or is it?

E-TEN glofiish X500 review

eten-x500-glofiish.jpg
E-Ten Glofiish X500 just got reviewed. The 3 page review includes lots of pictures and remarks… Here is some of the most important bits…

The E-TEN glofiish X500 is a quad-band GSM phone with EDGE, including a Samsung S3C2440 400MHz processor, 128MB ROM and 64MB RAM, a 2.8″ QVGA touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi (both 802.11b and g), a 2MP camera with flash, integrated SiRFStar III GPS chipset, a microSD slot, and even an FM radio tuner! Wow, that’s quite a feature list. The manufacturer claims that talk time is around 7 hours, while standby time comes in at 200 hours. Not bad.

This phone would be my daily driver if it had 3G. It’s got just about everything a geek could want (perhaps minus a keyboard), and it’s still running slow EDGE. My guess is that if E-TEN finds the glofish brand to be a success, they’ll start producing a device with 3G.

This device includes the fantastic SiRFStar III GPS chipset which features quick satellite acquisition times and low power usage. But where’s the mapping software? I’m not ready to spend another $100+ after having bought a new device. The HTC Artemis P3300, a similar device that has built in GPS, comes with TomTom6 navigation software, why can’t the X500?
