dmedia WiMAX G5W GPS navigation system

gw5-dmedia
Ever seen a standalone GPS navigation system with WiMax connectivity? No? Neither have we (Clarion MIND, or Nokia N810 does not really count). Well, people at dmedia decided this was the future and designed one called G5W.

We’re not sure if this is still at prototype level or actually something you can pick up from a store in Hong Kong but here are the specs you can expect from dmedia G5W GPS navigation system:

  • 5″ wide touch screen
  • bluetooth connectivity
  • FM transmitter
  • GPRS/EDGE modules

Wouldn’t this be great if we had free WiMax coverage in our cities? Start a browser and bring up Google Maps with traffic information and maybe a few bookmarked traffic web cameras on our way and you can avoid traffic like no other.

wimax gps phone F200

wimax-dmedia-gps
If you remember we talked about the F2 GPS phone from dmedia last year. This year they’re also showcasing F200; a GPS phone with WiMAX connectivity.

wimax-gps-phoneApparently the F200 won the CES Innovations Award last year but somehow we managed to miss it. We’re sure they’ll be displaying their WiMAX GPS phone this year and we promise to be more careful not to miss any awesome new gadgets like this one.

F200 WiMAX GPS Phone equipped with G-sensor which could detect the angle of the cell phone from horizontal level, allowing users to view screen with either horizontal or vertical mode in vary applications. When you want to view pictures, simply to flip your cell phone from horizontal to vertical level then you can change the view mode of the picture. Embedded GPS Module makes cell phone a personal navigation device operating with navigation software preinstalled.

F200 WiMAX GPS phone features two screens; both on the same side. A 2.2″ one and a 1.6″ touch screen below it. The map data is preinstalled on a server and navigation software allows users to navigate through voice instructions. F200 also has a built-in 2MP digital camera.

It even has an embedded G-Sensor so it can flip the screen depending on how you’re holding the device.

dmedia P1 GPS smart phone

This is another new product from dmedia. Called dmedia P1 GPS smart phone this is dmedia’s first attempt at wireless handsets. We must say they’ve done a great job for a first timer. The P1 is a Microsoft Win Mobile 6.1 Professional device with WiFi (802.11 b/g), tri-band HSDPA, and quad-band GSM/EDGE.

It uses a 2.8″ touch screen which should be plenty for GPS navigation. Speaking of GPS features, it is powered by a SiRF Atlas III processor and used by the Papago VR-ONE navigation software.

Other features of the dmedia P1 include a microSD card slot, support for AMR, MP3, AAC, WMA, AAC+ formats, digital camera, and a powerful 1530mAh battery.

Something else for us to check out CES 2009…

dmedia G400

We talk about dmedia almost regularly here at Navigadget since they almost always find a way to include a GPS receiver in everything they make. Today we’ll talk about dmedia G400, an MID (mobile internet device) with support for WiMax connections. It comes in two versions, either 3.8″ screen, or 4.3″, and both models include digital TV technologies such as DVB-T/H, ISDB-T, or the optional T-DMB.

It even has bluetooth for local connections, microSD slot for storage, and uses a 1400mAh battery. The GPS receiver we mentioned is the SiRFprima SoC and even though we have no information on this, we’re pretty sure dmedia will throw in a navigation software into the G400 mix.

We’ll check this out at CES 2009 for you… Read More …

Chinese dMedia is getting ready to display a new GPS navigation system called G5. This is their first attempt at a two way connected device that features a GSM/CDMA module.

It would be an understatement to call this just a navigation system as G5 also features a digital TV antenna that can play your favorite shows on its 5″ screen. We don’t have any information when this device will the shelves in the U.S., if at all but you may be pleased to know that G5 has an open platform that allows 3rd party applications to be developed and applied on it.

the other G4 from d-Media

dmedia-G4-440.jpg
This is not the Mac G4, but another G4 from Taiwan. The G4 from d-Media is a portable navigation system with a 4 inch screen, bluetooth, IR remote, eloctronic compass, voice recorder, TMC capability, media player for various formats, and more…

Just looking at the picture you can tell that it has an easy to use user-interface and the bluetooth – infrared remote is something you don’t get with other navigation systems.

The G4 also has an button display which functions as an easy to use touchpad. To improve GPS performance, d-Media has included many special features, such as the e-compass and G sensor. This allows drivers to receive guidance and stay on course in areas such as tunnels and bridges.

The added built-in Bluetooth functionality allows users to connect their cell phones to the G4 and use a Bluetooth earpiece to make and receive phone calls while driving.
